چکیده
In this paper, we would like to investigate the optimal wireless streaming of a multi-quality tiled 360 virtual reality (VR) video from server multiple users. To end, propose maximally exploit potential multicast opportunities by effectively utilizing characteristics VR videos and computation resources at users' side. particular, consider two requirements for quality variation in one field-of-view (FoV), i.e., absolute smoothness requirement relative requirement, playback modes, direct-playback mode (without user transcoding) transcode-playback (with transcoding). Besides natural opportunities, introduce new types namely, smoothness-enabled which allow flexible tradeoff between viewing communications resource consumption, transcoding-enabled consumptions. Then, establish novel mathematical model that reflects impacts natural, smoothness-enabled, on average transmission energy transcoding energy. Based model, optimize allocation, level selection, selection minimize consumption four cases with different modes. By comparing values cases, prove reduces when more can be utilized. Finally, numerical results show substantial gains proposed solutions over existing schemes, demonstrate importance exploiting three opportunities.

Streaming Media Caching with Transcoding-Enabled Proxies
We propose a transcoding-enabled streaming media caching system (TeC) along with a new set of caching strategies. Our system is designed for efficient delivery of rich media web contents to heterogeneous network environments and client capabilities. The proxies perform transcoding as well as caching in our system. This design choice allows content adaptation to be performed at the edges of the ...

Recent advances in software-defined mobile networks (SDMNs), in-network caching, and mobile edge computing (MEC) can have great effects on video services in next generation mobile networks. In this paper, we jointly consider SDMNs, innetwork caching, and MEC to enhance the video service in next generation mobile networks. With the objective of maximizing the mean measurement of video quality, a...

Given the significant industrial growth of demand for virtual reality (VR), 360◦ video streaming is one of the most important VR applications that require cost-optimal solutions to achieve widespread proliferation of VR technology. Because of its inherent variability of data-intensive content types and its tiled-based encoding and streaming, 360◦ video requires new encoding ladders in adaptive ...
